These systems are referred to as point-of-entry (POE) systems and are installed downstream from the water meter or well pump. These systems help protect plumbing and fixtures while reducing unpleasant taste and odor. Maintenance of a whole-house water filter system is as simple as replacing a light bulb with a simple quarter turn of the 3M Aqua-Pure AP917HD Replacement Water Filter Cartridge or placing a service call with your local plumbing professional. 1″ stainless steel inlet and outlet connections provide easy installation for a plumbing professional and peak flow rates up to 20 gpm to meet the needs of residential applications. The innovative Sanitary Quick Change (SQC) design, an industry first for this application, allows for fast and easy cartridge change-outs without having to contact the filter media or the need for a filter wrench. The AP903 is manufactured with a head assembly that includes an integral mounting bracket. The 304 stainless steel head can be installed on existing copper pipes in the home. Got so bad we felt we had just come out of a … Our home water always had a scent of chlorine in it but had increased significantly in the last 6 months. Got so bad we felt we had just come out of a public pool after taking a shower. Installed this unit one week ago with a Watts WH-LD sediment pre filter. There is zero smell or feel of chlorine throughout our water system. Pretty amazing. I spent almost a year researching and reading reviews on various filtration and softening systems. Very very satisfied with this system! Our water also has a lot of sediment in it and in only one week the Watts 5 micron pre filter has started to brown, so I can confidently say it’s working. Don’t know if the brown staining of the toilets and fixtures will be solved but I’m optimistic about it. The 3M aquapure AP903 comes with the AP917HP cartridge which is designed to reduces particulates and chlorine. We will probably try the AP917HD-S cartridge when the current unit is due for replacement. AP917HD-S also reduces particulates and chlorine but…
FAIL As a few other reviewers have pointed out, the filter only lasts about a month. Then there is a significant drop in water pressure, which can only be resolved by replacing the (expensive) filter or bypassing the system altogether.I am a single person living in a 1,700 square foot house in a city with relatively soft municipal water. My monthly water usage is around 3,000 gallons, so the life of the filter is only a mere 3% of it’s stated value (100,000 gallons).
