You get what you pay for. Went camping with it and…well for the price, it definitely does as advertised. It filtered some light green-ish river water into a visibly clear and clean tasting sort – no observable particulates. Definitely works better than some others at this price point. That said, save yourself the trouble and get a more expensive one if you are able to afford it…as you’ll see why below.Onto the bad. The little water pouch it comes with is terrible as a travel companion as it is difficult to open fully and due to external water pressures, cannot be fully inflated to fill the advertised volume. Sucking through the straw itself is also a very tiring and tedious process. My two cents is to find a separate squeeze bottle of better quality that you can screw onto the end to act as a filter. Otherwise, you’re in for a tough time. Unless you’re in dire circumstances where this is your only way to access a safe drinking source, I’d bite the bullet and spend a little more on a pump type…

Really hard to draw water though this one, long cleaning process makes it hard to use. I just compared this to the lifestraw and it’s not all that great. I suspect most here used this on tap water instead of contaminated water, and put it in a drawer as an emergency gadget. Personally, I tried to actually use it.In a nutshell:The good:Sure, it filters better than the Lifestraw. No doubt. I tested with manually (no viruses or bacterias mind you) contaminated water and inspected the result with a microscope. Couldn’t fault it. The lifestraw let some stuff through, this one did not. Nada. The bad:It’s HARD to draw water from this. You might die of exhaustion before you get 100ml of water in your mouth. Plus, the water has to be prefiltered and very clear or you won’t get any water at all through the filter! Even little pieces of ~0.5mm will block the filter flow.So there’s a few prefilters included, use them, or this wont work (that means you can use the straw about 5 times then you’re out of filters by the…
