Not much of a carbon layer Bought these on accident and realized they were not right for me, but I figured I would compare the inside to the keystone brand filters. The Dupont ones have only a thin layer of carbon whereas the keystone brand have a thick layer of carbon. Definitely wouldn’t buy these if I was looking for a large amount of carbon in my filter. Well worth the money. We are on well water. The only issue we have with our water is its iron content. This filter made all the difference. After use, the outside of the filter was completely orange from iron and the inside was still bright white. That was the best indicator to me that it keeps the iron out. I’m not sure yet how often I will have to replace it, assuming that it depends on different levels of iron one might have in their system. If its once a month, it will be well worth the time and money to keep…

Awesome filter. My water didn’t have any noticeable sediment Awesome filter. My water didn’t have any noticeable sediment, just a really bad taste. So I bought one ten inch housing and this carbon filter and it immediately made the water drinkable. This one filter services just the refrigerator where we get all of our drinking water from so I will report back after it has run for a couple months about the taste.
